Structure, support, and why the door is a conversation.

Some questions deserve answering before anyone has to ask them. This is that page. No ornament here — only the plain shape of the thing.

What we are

We are a 508(c)(1)(A) church.

In plain terms: we are tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3), and as a church we are not required to petition the IRS for permission to be one. That exception is written into the code itself — section 508(c)(1)(A) — and it belongs to every congregation in this country, not to us alone.

We claim no special standing. We stand where churches stand.

What keeps it standing

The people who are here.

Member contributions and donations. That is the ground this rests on. No outside investor holds a stake in what we steward, and no one buys their way nearer to it.

Where it goes

Back into the field.

Into the care of the objects. Into the rooms where people gather. Into the spaces, the study, and the quiet work that does not announce itself.

What comes from members funds what members use. That is the whole circuit, and we intend to keep it that short.

What we are building

Something closer to a co-operative than a congregation.

A self-propelled ecosystem — not an institution that collects from its people, but a field its people sustain and are sustained by. Those who use it are those who keep it. Those who keep it are those it serves.

We are early in this. We would rather say so than suggest otherwise.

Why the door is a conversation

Because a form cannot do what a conversation does.

We could place a button here and grow faster. We have chosen not to. In a world that has automated nearly every threshold, we are keeping one hand on this one — human, unhurried, and ours.

This is not a screening. It is not a test. No one is measured, ranked, or found wanting. It is simply that we would like to know who is walking in, and we would like them to know us.

The inefficiency is the point.

The lines, again

We sell no rank. We charge nothing for nearness to what we hold. We promise no outcomes — medical, psychological, or spiritual.

These are not assurances written for a page. They live in our ethics and in our Member Charter, and you may hold us to every one of them.
